What is a hypochondriac?

Hypochondriac - is a person who has an exaggerated preoccupation with his own health. Hypochondriacs will find cause for alarm and evidence of disease or illness in the most insignificant symptoms. To some extent we are all hypochondriacs. But too much concern can be a symptom of some mental disturbance. There was  a man called Samuel Jessup in Lincolnshire, England, who in 22 years swallowed nearly a quarter of a million pills. His record for one year was 50,000 pills. He is thought to have taken 40,000 bottles of medicine before his death at the age of 65.
